Who Is She?
So, you’ve come here. OBVIOUSLY you’re curious as to the face behind the machine! Well, the face ain’t goin’ here, but you can learn some more about me.
I’m a 19 year old college student in New Jersey. The first craft I can remember doing was making Shrinky-Dinks when I was a kid. You’d draw out a picture or something, cut it out of this plastic, and stick it in the toaster oven. They would SHRINK to like a quarter the size and then you could poke a hole in it, wear it or whatever. I thought the name was just really cool–Shrinky Dinks!
When I was about 8 years old, I learned how to crochet from my ancient neighbor. She gave me red yarn and a hook, taught me a chain stitch, an sent me home. I came back the next day, the entire ball of yarn gone, in a chain that way probably ten feet long. She laughed and pulled it all out (I was horrified!) and she taught me the double crochet, which I did until I ran out of yarn. I don’t think I really touched it again until last year! A friend mentioned that she was making a blanket for someone, and I thought that was an AWESOME idea. So I picked it back up, and since then have made fiveĀ blankets and started a scarf!
When I was about ten, I took out a bunch of books from the library to learn how to embroider. I learned most basic hand stitches, and for Christmas embroidered aprons and pillows for almost everyone I knew. My mother still has one I made, but I can’t for the life of me remember what was on it. I think a Christmas tree, or I <3 Mom or something!
I took two sewing classes in middle school, where we made a gym bag in one and a sweatshirt in another. In high school I took a quarter-long sewing class, but didn’t really learn much of anything. This summer I wanted to make a costume for a convention, so I bought most everything I would need and sat down to work….to find that I had stretch fabric and an ancient machine that only straight stitches!!! I was horrified, and probably a day or so later went to WalMart and purchased a Brother LS-2125i, which has served me well so far! I’ve made a dress, a unisuit, a cowl, jest cuffs and neck pieces, gloves, and shoe covers. I’ve been studying sewing techniques, and am so happy to be able to share it with anybody who comes by.
Any questions? Just post me a comment!!

Just wanted to return the visit, and check out your sewing! It’s great to take tidbits of skills learned and then turn them into a true talent. I think you can probably count on lots of biz in the future, especially from Cosplay peoples!
Some excellent and creative work! Nice to meet you!
